I was a junior at the University of Kansas when the draft lottery was introduced. While I don’t remember my number exactly, I know it was in the 300’s. I was a reporter at the University Daily Kansan (UDK), and worked the night of the Lottery. This was well before the Internet or social media, and I remember the phone ringing off the hook in the newsroom with calls from KU students wanting to know what their number was.
